Traffic Data – traffic has fallen over past decade

The Department for Transport has traffic data for roads all across the country.  It provides a summary of the total traffic for each county since the year 2000 which can be seen via the following links:

Hampshire Traffic Levels since 2000

West Sussex Traffic Levels since 2000

Brighton & Hove Traffic Levels since 2000

East Sussex Traffic Levels since 2000

These all show that overall traffic levels on major roads were lower in 2013 than they were in 2003 across all three counties and in West Sussex, they were lower than in 2000.
