The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) outlines the Government’s overall policy on planning, that Local Plans and planning decisions are mean to be consistent with.  It was updated on 24 July 2018

The previous version was adopted in 2012 and is now superseded by the 2018 version but has been left here so that comparisons can be made between the old and new.

For decisions on national infrastructure, the national policy statements take precedence, although they should be consistent with the NPPF.
